Indoor air quality, ventilation and DOE Zero Energy Ready Home
Tighter, more efficient buildings need verified ventilation. We measure it, test indoor air quality and verify the programs that require it.
Ventilation and indoor air quality
Measured, documented and explained
- Whole-house ventilation airflow (ASHRAE 62.2)
- Kitchen and bathroom exhaust verification
- Indoor air quality testing — on request, additional cost
- Diagnostics for odors, moisture and comfort complaints
- Plain-language results and next steps
- Coordination with California Energy Code Compliance field testing
DOE Zero Energy Ready Home
Zero energy: DOE Zero Energy Ready Home and EPA Indoor airPLUS
A DOE Zero Energy Ready Home is so efficient that a modest renewable energy system can offset most or all of its annual energy use. The program builds on ENERGY STAR and require EPA Indoor airPLUS for healthier indoor air. We provide the rater verification builders need to certify.
- Program path and design review
- HERS Index rating
- EPA Indoor airPLUS verification checklist
- Ventilation, filtration and moisture control checks
- Final testing and certification documentation
- Coordination with ENERGY STAR verification

Common questions
Answers before you book
Is ventilation testing required by the Energy Code?
Yes. Mechanical ventilation airflow for new homes is an Energy Code verification measure and is part of California Energy Code Compliance field testing.
What does EPA Indoor airPLUS cover?
It addresses moisture control, radon resistance, pest barriers, HVAC and ventilation, combustion pollutants and low-emission materials, and it is required for DOE Zero Energy Ready Home certification.
Is indoor air quality testing included?
Code-required ventilation verification is included in California Energy Code Compliance field testing. Additional indoor air quality testing is available on request at an additional cost — call (213) 536-9392 for details.
